Hosted Professionally Speaking 2023 with Professor Michael Fullan, exploring the concept of children and young people being ‘changemakers for the future’, and how leaders can be effective in complex times.

February

Published a revised parent guide to support parents/guardians take a more active role in their children's education.

March

The Educators Wales jobs portal began featuring vacancies from a diverse range of organisations from accross Wales' education sector (it’s now the biggest dedicated to education in Wales).

April

We welcomed our third Council, a new Chairperson, and new fitness to practise panel members.

May

We welcomed four new categories onto the Register of Education Practitioners.

June

Launched our new podcast, Sgwrsio with the EWC, featuring lively discussions, shared experiences, ideas, and perspectives on the ever-evolving landscape of the education workforce in Wales.

July

Met lots of registrants at events throughout the summer including the Urdd, Royal Welsh, and Eisteddfod Genedlaethol.

August

Published our suite of annual reports showcasing our achievements and performance as an independent, trusted regulator.

September

Published Annual Education Workforce Statistics providing comprehensive data on 88,000+ registrants.

October

Updated the Code of Professional Conduct and Practice to reflect the new registration categories.

November

Provided feedback on two important consultations which could impact regulation of the education workforce in Wales.

December

Supported the Defnyddia Dy Gymraeg (Use your Welsh) campaign to encourage individuals to embrace and utilise the Welsh language in their daily interactions.

ITE reaccreditation

A number of programmes of Initial teacher Education (ITE) are due for renewal in 2024. We hold responsibility for accrediting and monitoring programmes of ITE against Welsh Government’s Criteria for the accreditation of Initial Teacher Education programmes in Wales.

Guidance, resources, and support

We will continue to offer registrants a range of resources to support them in their day-to-day practice including the Professional Learning Passport (PLP), good practice guides, and access to EBSCO, the world’s largest full text research database for education professionals.
