As Adult Learners' Week gets underway, we're celebrating the value of lifelong learning and recognising the education professionals who help adults across Wales develop new skills, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
Adult Learners' Week (21–27 September) is a national campaign celebrating the value of lifelong learning and the positive difference it makes to individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. This year's campaign encourages us all to remember that it's never too late to learn something new.
At the Education Workforce Council (EWC), we're proud to recognise the dedicated education professionals who support adult learners across Wales every day.
Whether they're helping someone gain essential skills, develop confidence, change career, improve their wellbeing, or achieve a long-held ambition, practitioners working in further education, work-based learning, and adult learning play a vital role in transforming lives through education.
Supporting learning at every stage of life
Learning doesn't stop when we leave school, and neither does teaching.
Across Wales, registered education practitioners support adults from all walks of life to develop new knowledge and skills. Their commitment helps ensure adults have opportunities to continue learning throughout their lives.
Professional learning matters too
Lifelong learning is just as important for educators as it is for learners.
Through the Professional Learning Passport (PLP), thousands of education practitioners across Wales record, reflect on, and plan their own professional learning, helping them continue to develop throughout their careers and provide the best possible support for those they teach.
Alongside the PLP, we provide a range of free resources designed to support professional growth and reflective practice. These include:
- good practice guides covering key areas of professional practice
- materials to help registrants engage with close-to-practice research
- on-demand webinars exploring topics relevant to the education workforce
Together, these resources help registrants continue to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence, ensuring they can provide the best possible support to learners throughout Wales.
