A Fitness to Practise Committee of the Education Workforce Council (EWC), sitting remotely on 10-12 March 2026, has found an allegation of ‘unacceptable professional conduct’ proved against school learning support worker, Cerian Williams.

The Fitness to Practise Committee found the following allegations proven, that whilst Ms Williams was employed as a school learning support worker at Ysgol Gymraeg Gilfach Fargoed:

1. on or around 20 May 2022, in respect of Pupil A, she:
   1. dragged
   2. grabbed
   3. pulled them by the arm and wrist
2. her conduct at paragraph 1 was:
   1. an unnecessary use of force
   2. an excessive use of force
   3. not in accordance with Team Teach and the school policy for reasonable force

The Fitness to Practise Committee imposed a Suspension Order (without conditions) on Ms Williams’ registration as a school learning support worker for a period of 12 months (from 12 March 2026 to 12 March 2027). As such, Ms Williams will not be able to work as a registered person (school learning support worker) in a maintained school or non-maintained special school in Wales for the period of the Order.

Ms Williams has a right of appeal to High Court within 28 days.
