Join us as we welcome the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Rocio Cifuentes MBE as our keynote speaker for our Professionally Speaking event. She will explore what children and young people across Wales are telling us about their experiences of education, and what this means for those working with and supporting them.
Drawing on evidence gathered directly from children and young people, Rocio will discuss the role of the office for the Children's Commissioner for Wales, and the importance of a rights-based approach to education and youth work. The session will also reflect on current challenges facing learners and young people, and consider the practical steps that professionals can take to uphold and promote children's rights in their everyday work.
The event will conclude with a Q&A section, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask your questions directly to Rocio.

Biography
Rocio Cifuentes MBE is the Children's Commissioner for Wales.
As The Children's Commissioner for Wales, Rocio Cifuentes promotes and protects the rights of children and young people (CYP) across Wales. She works directly with CYP to ensure their voices are heard by decision-makers, and advocates for changes to laws, policies and practices which affect their lives.
Before becoming Commissioner in April 2022, Rocio was Chief Executive of Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team Wales (EYST Wales), where she championed the rights and opportunities of young people from diverse backgrounds. She has extensive experience working with children, young people and communities across Wales and is recognised nationally for her contributions to equality, inclusion and children's rights.
Rocio was awarded an MBE for services to young people and ethnic minorities in Wales.
