Forthcoming Fitness to Practise Committee Hearings

Details of a forthcoming hearing will appear here five working days before it is due to take place.

Members of the education professions, the press and the public can attend Fitness to Practise Committee hearings of the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and a small number of observer places are available for this purpose. If you wish to attend as an observer, you are asked to contact the EWC on 029 2046 0099. In attending a hearing, observers are asked to bear in mind the following points:

  • Hearings are subject to sudden cancellation or postponement. Those travelling long distances are advised to confirm that a hearing is still taking place by telephoning the EWC on or shortly before the day of the hearing;

  • Hearings are held in public in accordance with the Human Rights Act. However, a registered person can request that all or part of a hearing be held in private. The Committee will consider any such request on the day of the hearing. Where all or any part of a hearing is held in private, this will not be open to observers.

If you are a member of the press and wish to attend a hearing listed here, you must contact the EWC in the first instance on 029 2046 0099. Should you not do so in advance of the hearing date, the Council cannot guarantee your place as an observer.

Further information for hearing observers can be found here . This information is general, and in all circumstances, The Education Workforce Council (Main Functions)(Wales) Regulations 2015, as amended and the EWC's  Disciplinary Procedures and Rules 2017  take precedence.
