The Education Workforce Council (EWC) has submitted its response to a Welsh Government consultation on proposed changes to statutory induction for newly qualified teachers. The proposed changes are intended to address key issues such as variable and inconsistent support, the practicalities of meeting the statutory induction requirements for short-term supply teachers, and bureaucracy.
In its response, the EWC was largely supportive of the proposed changes. The EWC has worked with Welsh Government in an administrative capacity on statutory induction since 2006 and as such, provided pragmatic insights about the practicalities of implementing some of the proposed changes as well as the potential for unintended consequences.
The full consultation response is now available to read on the EWC website.
