We recently submitted our response to the Welsh Parliament’s Children, Young People, and Education (CYPE) Committee’s consultation on the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill.
How we responded
We strongly support the Welsh Government’s strategic approach to curriculum reform and welcomed the bill as an important next step in preparing for the introduction of the new curriculum.
Our response also emphasises:
- the importance of ensuring that the education workforce receives clear and timely guidance from the Welsh Government with respect to implementing the new curriculum;
- that the Welsh Government should continue to engage with stakeholders and work with practitioners (and others within the sector) on a co-constructive approach to the development of advice regarding implementation; and
- the need for all parts of the workforce (including supply staff, headteachers and other leaders) to undertake suitable professional learning to support the introduction of the new curriculum, and for the professional learning offer to be delivered consistently across Wales.
