Coronavirus: impact on scheduled hearings
As a result of the restrictions which remain in place in Wales due to Covid-19, unless there are exceptional factors, all fitness to practise hearings from September 2020 will be conducted remotely (using video link) until further notice. We will continue to keep Welsh Government advice under review in order to assess how and when we may resume physical hearings.
Details of a forthcoming remote hearing will appear here five working days before it is due to take place.
Booking a place
You will need to provide the following information when booking:
- Your full name
- Date of hearing
- Email address to which we can send the Zoom Professional link
- Contact number we can reach you on if there are any technical issues during the hearing
- Reason for wishing to observe (for example, press)
The ‘link’ to join
Once we have confirmed your place to observe is booked, we will send you a Zoom Professional link to join the hearing 24 hours before the hearing is due to start. Please do not share this link with anyone else.
In observing a remote hearing, please bear in mind hearings are subject to sudden cancellation or postponement. Please also note the following:
Public / private
There is an expectation our hearings will be held in public. However, sometimes part or all of a hearing may be held in private due to the confidential nature of the information involved, such as health issues. The Committee may exclude the public and press while it is sitting in private.
In these circumstances, you will be asked to leave the hearing and the Case Officer for the hearing will notify you when you are able to re-join, if it is appropriate later on.
We record our hearings. However, it is strictly prohibited for any other person to audio or video record, screen shot, photograph, copy or share our hearing proceedings.
